Home sunbed hire for Birmingham residents
TanBox is a genuine Birmingham business — not a national chain with a Birmingham phone number. Our salon sits on Bristol Road South in Northfield (B31 2PE), 5 minutes from M5 J4 and a straight shot into the city. We've been hiring home sunbeds to Birmingham families for over two years and have delivered to every corner of the city: Northfield, Bournville, Selly Oak, Edgbaston, Harborne, Moseley, Kings Heath, Hall Green, Bearwood, Quinton, Longbridge, Rednal, Rubery, Weoley Castle, Frankley, Bartley Green, Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Aston, Perry Barr, Handsworth, Great Barr, Kingstanding, Yardley, Sheldon, Small Heath, Sparkhill, Digbeth, the Jewellery Quarter and the full city centre. Terraced house in Selly Oak? New-build in Longbridge? Apartment in the Mailbox? Semi in Sutton? We've delivered there. We always talk through access on the booking call so there are no surprises on the day — and because we're local, a morning enquiry often becomes an afternoon delivery. Being Birmingham-based also means our collection is genuinely free with no return-trip surcharges, no minimum-hire tricks, no fuel supplements — just one clean price from doorstep to plug-in and back again.
Delivery & installation across Birmingham
Delivery across every Birmingham postcode (B1 to B48) is included in every hire price — no mileage fees, no fuel supplements, no delivery charges. We book a 2-hour arrival window that works around your day, arrive with the bed pre-cleaned and PAT-tested, install it in the room of your choice (spare bedroom, dining room, garage, utility, conservatory — they've all worked), plug it into any standard 13-amp socket, walk you through safe session times for your specific skin type, hand over UV goggles and starter tan accelerator advice, then come back at the end of the hire to collect. Most Birmingham bookings are delivered within 2–3 working days of the £10 deposit and it's usually next-day for B29, B30, B31, B32, B38 and B45. Live in a flat with a lift, a 3rd-floor walk-up, or a house with a tight staircase? Just flag it on the booking call — our beds are built to break into sections and we handle almost every access situation without drama.

Birmingham sunbed hire FAQs
How much is sunbed hire in Birmingham?
£175 for 4 weeks, £260 for 6 weeks, £330 for 8 weeks and £475 for 12 weeks — same price for stand-up or lie-down. Every price includes delivery, installation and collection anywhere in B1–B48. £10 deposit secures the slot, balance paid in cash or bank transfer on delivery day.
How quickly can you deliver a sunbed in Birmingham?
Most B-postcodes get a bed within 2–3 working days of the £10 deposit. Same-day delivery is often possible for B29, B30, B31, B32, B38, B45 and other south-Birmingham postcodes close to our Northfield base. Call us and we'll tell you the earliest slot we've got.
Do you cover central Birmingham (B1–B5) and apartments?
Yes — we deliver to flats and apartments across the city centre, Jewellery Quarter, Mailbox, Digbeth, and every high-rise with a working lift. Let us know the floor number and whether there's a goods lift when you book so we can plan the install properly. Beds break into sections so tight lifts are rarely a problem.
What Birmingham areas do you cover?
Every Birmingham postcode from B1 to B48 — including Northfield, Bournville, Selly Oak, Edgbaston, Harborne, Moseley, Kings Heath, Hall Green, Bearwood, Quinton, Longbridge, Rednal, Rubery, Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Aston, Perry Barr, Handsworth, Great Barr, Kingstanding, Yardley, Sheldon, Small Heath, Sparkhill, Digbeth and the city centre. If you're unsure, drop your postcode into the checker on our homepage.
Do you deliver to Sutton Coldfield, Erdington and North Birmingham?
Yes — Sutton Coldfield (B72–B76), Erdington (B23–B24), Kingstanding (B44), Great Barr (B42–B43) and Perry Barr (B42) are all fully covered on standard Birmingham pricing and delivery. Sutton Coldfield has its own dedicated page if you want the local detail.
Is parking needed for delivery?
Ideally a space close to the front door so we can move the bed in safely with our sack trolley. On controlled-parking streets (much of Selly Oak, Moseley, Kings Heath, Harborne and the city centre) a visitor permit for delivery day makes life easier — otherwise we'll find the nearest legal spot and walk it in.
Stand-up or lie-down — which do Birmingham customers choose?
Stand-up is the most popular by a mile — probably 80% of Birmingham bookings. Customers pick it because sessions are shorter (6–9 minutes vs 12–15 on a lie-down), it takes up less floor space, and gives a more even tan on your back and shoulders. Lie-downs suit people who want to fully relax during sessions. Same price either way — we'll help you pick on the booking call.
How much space does a home sunbed need?
A stand-up needs roughly 1m × 1m of floor space and 2.1m of ceiling height — fits in most Birmingham spare rooms, garages, dining rooms and conservatories. A lie-down needs roughly 2.2m × 1m. Both run off a normal 13-amp socket — no special wiring, no rewiring, no electrician needed.
Is the sunbed cleaned between hires?
Yes — every bed is fully cleaned, disinfected and PAT-tested between customers. Acrylics are replaced on a strict rota. You're never getting a bed straight from the last house — we always inspect and clean at our Northfield unit between hires.
How long is a typical sunbed session?
Depends on skin type. Fair skin (Type I–II) starts at 3–4 minutes; medium (Type III–IV) 6–9 minutes; darker skin (Type V–VI) up to 12 minutes. We walk every Birmingham customer through safe session times when we deliver and err on the short side to build a base tan gradually and safely.
Can I collect from your Northfield salon instead?
No — every hire is delivered and installed by our team. It's included in the price and means the bed arrives set up, PAT-tested and safe to use, with zero manual handling on your side. Trying to move a commercial sunbed in a car isn't safe or possible.
Do you serve businesses, hen parties and weddings in Birmingham?
Yes — we hire to hen parties, wedding-prep groups, holiday-share groups and small salons across Birmingham regularly. Peak season is May–August. Get in touch with your dates and we'll build a package around them.
How do I pay?
£10 deposit online or over the phone secures the slot. The balance is paid in cash or bank transfer on delivery day. No credit checks, no direct debits, no rolling contracts, no small print.
Can I extend my hire if I want more time?
Yes — just call us at least a week before the collection date and we'll extend at pro-rata rates. Most Birmingham customers who extend do so before a holiday or wedding. Extensions are subject to bed availability.
What if the sunbed breaks down during my hire?
Call us the same day and we'll either fix it at your address or swap the whole bed out — usually within 24 hours across Birmingham. It's rare, but every bed is PAT-tested before delivery and we carry spare tubes and starters.
Do you hire to landlords, HMOs and shared houses?
Yes — as long as the person on the booking is over 18 and gives us access to a suitable room. We do ask HMO customers to check with the landlord first, mainly for insurance reasons on the electrical install.
